Honestly, the only reason I finished the book was that I liked Dai Sijie's first book Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress.  This new book, about a student of Freud's work, seeking a virgin in China, is a little outlandish, but interesting nevertheless.  I'd rather hope China is not that twisted at this modern age, but hey, what do I know.
